Armsman to the Brotherhood of the Horse, Sir Anduin Lothar was, at one time, the central character of the humans. Lothar was born and raised as a warrior in Azeroth, where he led the forces of the nation against the onslaught of the Horde. He even undertook the near-fatal search for the Tome of Divinity, where he was assaulted by Ogres and trapped in the Dead Mines, to be later rescued by Azerothien forces.

When King Llane was assassinated by the Half-Orc, Garona, and with no suitable heir to the throne, Lothar took up the charge, and fought a losing battle with the Orcs. But even in defeat, Lothar rose to his position, and, gathering the survivors of the horrific war, he led an exodus from the doomed nation, to land on the friendly shores of Lordaeron. Lothar rallied together the dissident nations of former Arathor, and prepared them all, Human, Elf, or Dwarf, for the soon-to-be-realized threat of the Horde.

King Terenas granted the Azerothiens asylum, and instated Lothar as Regent Lord of the nation, allowing the survivors to settle in Southshore and Hillsbrad. The Second War broke out, and Lothar led the desperate battle. But he successfully pushed back through Khaz Modan, nullifying their refining operations and forcing them to withdraw. As the war began to grow more murderous with every passing battle, Lothar made an excursion to Blackrock Spire to end the orcish threat once and for all. But when Doomhammer charged out of the citadel, he squared off in mortal combat with Lothar. The two leaders of their respective races battled until Lothar finally fell. His sacrifice, however, inspired his followers, and they rose up to battle the orcs and win the Second War.
